Calculator
A calculator is useful when it makes assumptions visible and allows management to compare scenarios. It does not replace a verified operating plan. Inputs, source dates, exclusions and sensitivity ranges should remain attached to every result used in a China decision.
Using Calculators as Decision Support
01
Define the decision before the inputs
State whether the calculation supports screening, budgeting, comparison or final approval. The required precision and evidence depend on that purpose.
Decision brief: Question / User / Stage / Required accuracy / Owner
02
Record every material assumption
Keep the source, date, currency, unit, range and owner for cost, time, staffing, volume and tax assumptions. A number without provenance should not become a management commitment.
Input record: Value / Source / Date / Range / Owner
From Assumptions to Sensitivity
03
Run base and downside cases
Test the variables that could change the decision, not every input equally. Delays, lower demand, higher operating cost and working-capital pressure often matter more than small setup differences.
Scenario set: Base / Downside / Upside / Trigger / Decision effect
04
Validate before approval
Compare outputs with current adviser quotes, market evidence and operating owners. Differences should be reconciled and the accepted case signed off.
Validation record: External check / Internal owner / Difference / Approval date

How to Use the China Business Calculator Hub
Use Guide to frame the work, Comparison and Review to test alternatives and risk, and FAQ and Resources to prepare the working file. Tool and Case support the management recommendation; News confirms whether the underlying assumptions remain current.
Management should keep each material result with its purpose, input sources, sensitivity and approval date. Figures should be refreshed when the project, location, timing or operating model changes.
